Give Stocks and Securities

Turn appreciated assets into conservation impact. By donating stock, bonds, or mutual funds, you can protect Florida’s wildlife, waters, and wild spaces—while potentially receiving valuable tax benefits.

Invest in Florida’s Future

A gift of appreciated stock, bonds, or mutual funds is a powerful way to protect Florida’s wildlife, waters, and wild spaces—and it may offer tax benefits for you.

  • If you’ve held the asset for at least one year, the full fair-market value of your gift may be tax-deductible.
  • In many cases, you can avoid capital gains tax on the appreciated value by giving the asset directly.
  • Your gift is credited on the date it’s received in FWF’s account.

Please talk with your financial advisor to see if this strategy is right for you.

How to Give Stock

Step 1 — Email us for transfer instructions
For DTC/transfer details and our brokerage information, email giving@floridawildlifefederation.org or call (850) 656-7113. We’ll provide everything your broker needs.

Step 2 — Ask your broker to transfer the shares
Most gifts can be sent electronically from your brokerage account.

Step 3 — Let us know about your gift
When stock is transferred, donor names don’t always come through. Please email giving@floridawildlifefederation.org with:

  • Your name and address
  • The stock/fund name and number of shares
  • The expected transfer date

This helps us identify, credit, and thank you promptly.

Frequently Asked Questions

Can I donate mutual funds or bonds?

Often, yes. Some funds take longer to process. Email us and we’ll coordinate the best method.

Can I claim a tax deduction?

Gifts of long-term appreciated securities are generally deductible at fair-market value, subject to IRS limits. Please consult your tax advisor.

What if I already sold the stock?

You can still support FWF with a cash gift, but you may owe capital gains on the sale. Many donors prefer transferring the shares directly to FWF.
