Florida Wildlife Federation is proud to announce that its strong financial health and ongoing effectiveness and reliability have helped it earn a Four-Star Rating from Charity Navigator. This recognition is the highest possible and comes at a particularly meaningful time, as FWF prepares to celebrate its 90th anniversary in 2026.
The Four-Star Rating designates Florida Wildlife Federation as an official “Give with Confidence” charity, signaling to supporters that FWF uses its resources effectively and responsibly. Charity Navigator’s evaluation goes beyond basic financial metrics to assess how well an organization delivers on its mission, demonstrating both operational excellence and real-world impact.
Charity Navigator is the nation’s largest and most trusted charity evaluator, providing donors with in-depth, independent ratings for more than 230,000 nonprofit organizations. Since 2001, it has served as a reliable resource for over 11 million donors each year seeking transparency and accountability in charitable giving.
The organization evaluates nonprofits across four key performance areas: Leadership & Adaptability, which assesses clarity of mission and strategic direction; Accountability & Finance, which measures transparency and fiscal stewardship; Culture & Community, which reflects engagement with stakeholders; and Impact & Results, which examines measurable outcomes and effectiveness.
“We are delighted to provide Florida Wildlife Federation with third-party accreditation that validates their operational excellence,” said Michael Thatcher, president and CEO of Charity Navigator. “The Four-Star Rating is the highest possible rating an organization can achieve. We are eager to see the good work that Florida Wildlife Federation can accomplish in the years ahead.”
“Our Four-Star Charity Navigator rating reinforces that our supporters can trust both our governance and our impact,” said Sarah Gledhill, President and CEO of Florida Wildlife Federation. “As we approach our 90th anniversary in 2026, this recognition underscores the strength of an organization that has been advocating for Florida’s natural resources for nearly a century—and that is still focused on the future.”
Founded in 1936, Florida Wildlife Federation has played a leading role in protecting Florida’s water, wildlife, and wild spaces. As FWF looks ahead to its 90th year, the organization is expanding efforts to address emerging conservation challenges, mobilize Floridians to take action, and prevent irreversible losses to the state’s natural legacy.
