Give Miami Day returns on Thursday, November 20, offering a powerful opportunity to support the Florida Wildlife Federation’s mission to safeguard Florida’s water, wildlife, and wild spaces.
Organized by The Miami Foundation, Give Miami Day is a 24-hour online giving event held every November, uniting people across South Florida and beyond in support of local nonprofits that make our communities stronger and more resilient.
Last year, your generosity helped us defend Florida’s beloved state parks from development proposals that would have allowed golf courses, hotels, and other incompatible uses on public lands —including Oleta River State Park in Miami-Dade County. Together, we celebrated a landmark victory with the State Park Preservation Act, which now permanently protects all 175 state parks from such threats.
This year, Florida’s waters face an urgent challenge. Since 2016, we’ve been fighting through litigation a proposed dredge project at Port Everglades that would cause the largest permitted coral destruction in the United States. The Florida Reef Tract, an underwater rainforest teeming with life, could be buried under clouds of sediment that would smother corals, harm endangered species, and disrupt the ecosystems that sustain fisheries, coastal protection, and tourism.
We saw this with PortMiami 10 years ago and we can’t let it happen again.

In a renewed effort, we joined Miami Waterkeeper and other conservation partners in the Stop the Dredge campaign to push back. Together, we’re using advocacy, science, and legal action to call on legislators and agencies to stop this destructive project.
This is just part of our work that often happens behind the scenes—in meetings, courtrooms, and public hearings—and powered entirely by supporters like you.
Your Give Miami Day gift fuels the advocacy that protects Florida’s water, wildlife, and wild places.
Beyond our work on state parks and coral reefs, FWF continues to build for the future by advancing key conservation priorities in the upcoming 2026 legislative session:
- Secure full and consistent funding for Florida Forever to protect critical lands and waters
- Defend Florida’s public lands from incompatible development and ensure they remain open for wildlife and recreation
- Restore the Ocklawaha River by breaching the Rodman Dam to reconnect wild waterways and revive lost springs
Your support ensures that these long-term conservation goals continue to move forward in the Capitol and across the state.
Make Your Gift Go Further on Give Miami Day
Thanks to the Million Dollar Match from The Miami Foundation and an anonymous donor, every $25 donation you make on Give Miami Day will be matched with an additional $25, up to a total of $1,000 per organization. To unlock the full match, a nonprofit needs 40 donors giving at least $25 each, so every contribution (big or small) helps us reach this goal!
