We’re excited to welcome Mary Jane Angelo to the Florida Wildlife Federation Board of Directors! With over 35 years of experience in environmental law, including roles with the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency, the St. Johns River Water Management District, and as Director of the University of Florida’s Environmental and Land Use Law Program, Mary Jane brings a wealth of expertise and passion for conservation.

A lifelong nature lover, Mary Jane began her career as a biologist doing entomology research before turning her focus to environmental law and policy. Throughout her distinguished career, she has published extensively on a variety of topics including pesticide law, endangered species law, water and wetlands law, sustainable agriculture, the regulation of genetically modified organisms, and the relationship between law and science.

She has also taught and lectured across the globe, sharing her insights on the connection between science, law, and environmental stewardship in the United StatesBelize, Brazil, Costa Rica, Cuba, Haiti, Italy, Poland, and Uruguay.  During her tenure at the University of Florida, Professor Angelo served on two National Academies Committees, one focused on Everglades Restoration and another focused on pesticides and endangered species.

Today, Mary Jane dedicates her time to volunteering with Florida nonprofits working to protect our springs, conserve land, and restore the Ocklawaha River. When she’s not advocating for Florida’s natural resources, she enjoys kayaking, hiking, and nature-based travel.

We’re honored to have her expertise and leadership guiding FWF’s mission to safeguard Florida’s wildlife, waters, and wild spaces.
