Protecting Florida’s Wild Spaces

The landscapes that make up wild Florida are both diverse and significant, with some habitats found nowhere else in the world. From protecting our water resources and endangered species, to offering restorative places of recreation to our communities, our wild spaces are vital to our state.

Keeping Florida’s Wild Spaces Wild

Effective land use planning and increased conservation funding at all levels of government are essential to protecting habitats for Florida’s diverse wildlife. Just as important is defending existing conservation lands so they remain protected for wildlife, public access, and the way of life Floridians value. These efforts preserve natural landscapes and support clean water, better air quality, and greater climate resilience.

Our ongoing monitoring of public land transactions and advocacy for funding to acquire additional protected lands helps maintain the integrity of these protected areas. By working across jurisdictionsthe Florida Wildlife Federation is supporting a connected network of conservation lands that strengthens ecological health and ensures future generations can experience wild Florida.

Defend Public Lands

Florida’s public lands face increasing pressure from development and privatization. Defending them is essential to protecting wildlife habitat and public access.
