Description
Watching a Reddish Egret hunt is a sight to behold. Capturing it in a photograph that shows the agility, grandeur and grace of this bird is a whole other thing. While photographing wading birds at the Sebastian Inlet this Reddish Egret made a short appearance. Like many other photographers I have captured many front lit shots of this bird hunting in the past. They are all good images but given the odd wing positions this bird gives, there is often some shadow that takes away from the beauty of this bird. So I decided to do something different this time. I moved around the bird so I would shoot into the sun. By placing the entire bird in the shadow I solved the problem of underwing shadow and at the same time the rim light from the sun added a nice glow enhancing the beauty of this Reddish. And capturing the moment where it was looking straight into my direction, well that was just luck! All of that came together to truly depict the beauty of this gorgeous bird.
