We, the undersigned, ask you to support dedicated funding to help prevent fish and wildlife from becoming endangered, as outlined in the bipartisan Recovering America's Wildlife Act.
The Recovering America's Wildlife Act will help conserve our nation's fish and wildlife by dedicating up to $1.4 billion for state-level conservation and $97.5 million to Tribal Nations to recover and sustain healthy fish and wildlife populations. The funding will be used to implement on-the-ground conservation efforts such as:
-
conserving and restoring habitats,
-
fighting invasive species,
-
reintroducing native species, and
-
tackling emerging diseases
State fish and wildlife agencies have identified more than 12,000 Species of Greatest Conservation Need in their congressionally mandated State Wildlife Action Plans. These plans are developed collaboratively and help inform conservation priorities in each state. The funding to Tribal Nations will allow for the expansion of conservation efforts on their lands, which provide vital habitat for hundreds of fish and wildlife species, including more than 500 species listed as threatened or endangered. Dedicated and robust funding is essential to recovering species already listed as threatened or endangered and to preventing additional species from needing “emergency room” measures through the Endangered Species Act.
Saving wildlife is an investment in a clean, sustainable, and thriving economy for rural and urban communities alike. Recovering America's Wildlife Act is good for wildlife, good for taxpayers, and good for business. We hope you will support this bipartisan initiative upon its reintroduction in the 119th Congress.
Thank you for your consideration in supporting a healthy, wildlife-rich outdoors for future generations.
