Description
A Great Egret preening in soft morning sun. Backlighting this shot allowed the focus to shift to the beautiful nuptial plumes glowing in the sunlight. Typically I wouldn’t go for a square composition from behind the bird but this curve of the neck and the feathers flowing towards the right make the composition work. These feathers remind me of a wedding gown train.
