Description
I was at the Sebastian Inlet photographing wading birds on the jetty. I was shooting into the sun trying to get some rim light shots of the egrets with their beautiful plumage. This Snowy Egret dropped into the water and started hunting. There wasn’t much but it was catching really small fish. As soon as he would pull his head out of water he would shake off splashing water all around. Since the light was perfect for rim shots I figured the water splash would illuminate nicely if I could place it in front of a dark background. I quickly moved so the bird would be against the dark rocks and waited for it to hunt again. After a few attempts (him at fishing and me at shooting) I finally got a series of images with a small fish in his beaks and water droplets sparkling all around him.
