Florida’s natural landscapes and wildlife are at risk. The Florida Forever program—a key conservation effort for over 25 years—is on the chopping block in the House Agriculture & Natural Resources Appropriations Subcommittee Chair’s Budget Recommendation with $0 allocated, as published on Tuesday, March 25. That recommendation would defund the Florida Forever Program for fiscal year 2025-2026 and halt progress for securing conservation land statewide.
Update: On Wednesday, March 26, the Senate released their budget recommendations for the 2025-2026 fiscal year. We are encouraged to see that members of the Senate committee understood the importance of funding for Florida Forever, recommending $100 million for land acquisition.
