The Florida Wildlife Federation invites you to an informative livestream to discuss the critical conservation efforts aimed at restoring the Ocklawaha River. Tune in as a panel of experts explores the history, current challenges, and future opportunities related to this vital waterway.
Our panel will feature Lisa Rinaman, the St. Johns Riverkeeper, a leading advocate for the health of Florida’s waterways and ecosystems. Joining her is Ryan Worthington, producer of the Florida Madcaps podcast, who brings unique insights into Florida’s environmental and cultural landscapes. Completing the panel is Jessica Finch, Mayor of Welaka, Florida, and a strong proponent of community-driven conservation efforts.
During the livestream, our panelists will explore the history of the Rodman Dam and its impact on the Ocklawaha River ecosystem. They will also address the current status of the river and propose solutions for the issues surrounding the dam and its environment. Additionally, the discussion will highlight the benefits of restoring the river’s natural flow, including improvements to fish and wildlife habitats, as well as new opportunities for recreational activities.
