Florida’s public lands are a vital part of our state’s heritage. They protect water resources, provide homes for endangered wildlife, and offer spaces where we can connect with nature and each other. This year, thanks to the support of people like you, we halted a proposal to develop nine Florida state parks. But our efforts to defend our public lands are far from over. Your outrage is justified, and we stand ready to hold elected officials to their promises to protect state parks in 2025 and beyond.

• Wildlife Sanctuaries: From the Florida panther to the manatee, these lands provide crucial habitats to the 135 threatened or endangered species found in our state. 
• Clean Water Resources: Public lands safeguard the aquifers, rivers, and lakes that provide drinking water for millions of Floridians. 
• Natural Defenses Against Climate Change: Wetlands and forests act as natural sponges, absorbing floodwaters and storing carbon to increase resilience to climate impacts.
• Places of Peace and Recreation: For hiking, paddling, fishing, or simply unwinding, these spaces connect us to nature and each other. 

When public lands are threatened, we all lose.
